Maya in her cute hat

I had to hold her hands down in the picture because she immediately rips the hat off her head.

This was also taken on her 10 month birthday!

Maya is 10 months old!

Sunday, Maya was 10 months old! Over the weekend we saw her stand on her own several times. She doesn't really realize that she is doing it - and when she does, she quickly grabs on to something or sits down.

She now is playing peek a boo with both hands and still loves Patty cake! She is such a sweetie!

My aunt Beverly from Atlanta came in town to see all the 2005 babies! We enjoyed getting to see her and to show off all the kids.

The Beach Boy

Sunday morning, Mason disappeared upstairs as he sometimes does. We heard some banging around.... and a little bit later he was back down stairs with his T-Shirt, Swimsuit, and his NEW flip flops. What can I say, the boy loves summer....

This was probably sparked on Friday because we were at the mall and The Gap has out their spring stuff. I saw that they had flip flops and we had to get them for him. We looked all last summer for flip flops and couldn't find any small enough to fit him. We got him 2 pair on Friday - they are really a littel big - but he doesn't care. He LOVES his flip flops.

And speaking of summer... later that day, we were just pulling out of the garage and he said "Mommy, I meed (need) my sunglasses, please." As I reached to get them he said, "The Sun is in my way." I laughed and said, "Do you mean, the sun is in your eyes?"

Kirsten turns 1

Our next event on Saturday was the 1st birthday party for Kirsten. She was so cute in her personalized party dress and she really seemed to enjoy her birthday cake.

Mason had fun terrorizing the other little girls present at the party.... and Maya enjoyed the different toys and trying to steal party favors from other children!!!

Fort Worth Stock Show

Or the "Stop Show" as Mason called it. Saturday we took Mason and Maya to the Fort Worth Stock Show along with Hidy and Gigi and Carmen and Gabe.

The kids had a good time running around and seeing all of the animals.

We even saw the livestock brought in by our alma mater, TEXAS TECH!!

We left about lunch time and went to the Railhead to eat lunch. Maya enjoyed her first bites of BBQ and she had her first french fries too!! A true Texas girl, she is...

On the way home, I was asking Mason if he liked the Stock Show and one of his comments was that it was "stinky."

Pat-A-Cake

Really, I always say "Patty Cake"... but you know what I mean. Maya now will start clapping all by herself when you start to sing/say "Patty Cake, Patty Cake"... it is SO cute. I wish I could put a video of her doing it on here.

And Mason took a NAP at school today with NO PAPI. That is 2 big developments all rolled into one. Some of you may know that Mason has been going to "school" on Tuesdays since about August. Well, he has never slept there. He normally is picked up before nap time to avoid the melt down that he had his 2nd time there. But lately, Nesha has been picking him up a little later each time to see if he would cooperate and lay on the mat. He has been doing well, just staying quiet on his mat during nap time, but still hasn't actually slept there until today!

Good progress for both my children today! :)

Lauren's Birthday Dinner

Here is Lauren, age 14. And then me with the Birthday girl.

And here is Maya with a mashed potato goatee...

and as my Dad says... a few pictures of the rest of "last year's crop" ...
Paloma with Gigi

And Allison with Zoe...

Poor Maya

Yesterday was a hard day for my little girl. Because she had a UTI in December, we had to go to have some tests done yesterday. She had a sonogram and a VCUG. After her sonogram, they had me put her in a little hospital gown. It was pretty cute, actually. I had wished that I had my camera to capture it. But not long later it was time for the VCUG. I no longer wished for a camera, but hoped that she would not ever remember it. It wasn't fun and she didn't appreciate it at all. However, she fell asleep in the car on the way home and slept most of the day. By about 5 or so when I got home from work, she was in great spirits and happy as she could be. I got the results of the tests... the sonogram was clear and normal, but the VCUG showed that she has bilateral reflux, grade 3 which was not good news. She has been referred to a specialist (a urologist) and we have an appointment in March. Until then, she will be on antibiotics to prevent another infection. Please keep her in your prayers.

Happy Birthday Lauren a.k.a. La La

Today is my niece, Lauren's, birthday. I cannot believe she is 14 years old today. I still clearly remember the day she was born. I was in high school and I remember we got out of school early that day, and I was so glad. I went right back to the hospital to hold her. (I had already been to the hospital either during the night or before school -- those details are fuzzy)

What I do clearly remember is how sweet and cuddly she was and that she made me an Aunt for the very first time. I was very proud of that fact.

I hope I will have some pictures to post after we celebrate her birthday sometime this week with her. She is all grown up now, but I won't ever forget what a sweet little girl she was. I went off to college when she was a toddler. When I came home for visits on the weekends, I was her favorite person.. (just for those few days!) It was so neat and made me feel so special.

Now my other nieces and nephews and my children call her "La La" which is easier for them to say!

Maya and Emmitt

Maya is fascinated with Emmitt. Whenever she sees him she gets excited and immediately moves in his direction. When Emmitt sees her coming, he seems a little nervous and tries to find an escape route. Since Maya can crawl pretty fast, it becomes a game of chase. Anyway she is thrilled to be around him and watch what he does. She likes to take a ride on him occasionally, but the rides don't last long...

I would have tried for a better picture, but as I said, the rides don't last long and my camera has too much of a delay....very frustrating when trying to take pictures of children!! (and animals)

Brother, Sister, and the Yellow Hummer

Mason drove Maya for her first ride in the little Hummer. It was very cute to see them driving up and down the sidewalks. Maya enjoyed the ride. She kept kicking the Hummer into 2nd gear making them take off fast!

Basketball

Okay, I don't mean to be a "Mom Bragger" but Mason asked Brian to raise his basketball goal. Brian raised it to the 6th level and he made a basket on his first try! I think the boy has some athletic talent. Don't ask where he got it from, because it wasn't from me? Well, I take that back, his "Hidy" is pretty athletic... anyway, I didn't get proof of the first shot going in -- but here are some pictures to show how high the goal was set and some action shots of the boy.
Did I mention that he loves basketball?

Teeth

Maya has 8 teeth (At least) and has had for a while now... but I have a few pictures to showcase her pearly whites.

And as I was mentioning teeth, Mason wanted to show me his teeth too.

And a bonus picture of the cute stool Grandmother gave to Mason for Christmas.

Little Ms. Maya

Maya has learned how to turn on the water in our bathroom. She discovered it by mistake, but she sure thinks it is neat.

Happy New Year

I know I am posting this picture late.. but I just got it from my Dad. This was taken on New Year's Eve. My Mom and Dad kept Mason and Maya for a little bit while Brian and I went to a little party. This was before we left their house. My Mom broke out about 20 party hats, noise makers and other party stuff.

Maya loves her cousin Paloma

I forgot to mention in any previous post that Maya loves to pull up on ANYTHING these days. You can see her trying to stand up here to rock Paloma's car seat.

1 week later and still Christmas isn't over...

Grandmother and Pops were out of town on Christmas, so we celebrated with them on New Year's Eve (Day). Mason got many things, but the cutest was the personalized step stool. It is TOO cute. Maya got an adorable pink and green hat with a big flower on it. She will look like a doll in it if we can keep her from pulling it off her head. Thanks to Grandmother and Pops for all our wonderful gifts. Uncle Christopher also sent some Christmas surprises, but we didn't get to see him at all while he was here. Thanks Christopher for the Barney and the talking activity book. They both have enjoyed both presents.

And then, Hidy and Gigi finally finished giving the Grandkids their gifts. Working around schedules of 3 daughters, 3 son in laws, and 7 grandchildren can be difficult to say the least. Mason got a basketball goal which we know he will enjoy. Maya got a cute doll and a radio among other things. Hidy and Gigi, Thank you very much for all our great surprises!

Mason's first ride in a convertible

Daddy took Mason in his first convetible ride. It was a pretty short trip to return my Dad's car to him.
