Mademoiselle Maya is 3

Mademoiselle Maya had a Pink Poodle in Paris themed 3rd birthday party. She has a thing for pink poodles ever since she latched on to a little pink poodle stuffed animal she got on her 2nd birthday. If you read the blog regularly, you know she was "Fifi" the pink poodle for Halloween. So, ever since I knew that I could buy some pink poodle party supplies, I knew that would be the theme for her 3rd birthday. I was happy to come across this cute pink poodle wrapping paper a few months ago. Gymboree carried a line of "Tres Chic" a few months ago. I got pony tail holders that had little plastic poodles on them. I gave them to Nesha who created the most adorable bows ever. Nesha made them to go with the cute outfit I bought for Maya to wear to her party.
We had a little hair issue when I was getting Maya ready for her party. When she was upstairs without me, she got her step stool out and climbed up and got some children's Vick's Vapor Rub. She got it all over her face and hair. I didn't have time to wash her hair again, so I had to get it out the best I could and fix her hair. It smelled SO strong...

We had Maya's party at the Texas Teddy Bear Factory -- which is just like Build a Bear. Gigi made the fabulous pink poodle cake to match the party ware. The ladies at Texas Teddy Bear Factory were very impressed!

When I booked the party, they had pink poodles in the store as a choice of animal to make... they didn't have any the day of the party, but that was okay. She has plenty of pink poodles!

Maya chose to make a cat. We found a "beautiful pink princess dress" for her cat to wear. Maya named her "Julie."

Carmen shows off her Husky.

Gabe and Mason had to leave the party early just after making their new friends. They both had soccer games.

Gabe made a Firefighter bear and Mason made a Basketball player bear. Carmen, Gabe and Paloma's Mommy was busy in labor about to have a new little sister for them!

Cake time and my little sweetheart was ready to blow out her candles.

The "Bearologist" handed out a certificate for each new friend made. Zoe made a black dog with a pink outfit. Reese made a Soccer player bear.
Kirsten made a pink bear with a denim skirt.

We tried to take a group picture with the big bear. This was pretty hilarious trying to do with five 2-3 year old girls and Carmen and Lauren.
As you can see, many shots taken and none of them great.
Paloma was acting tired laying with her new bear with Pajamas on. Maya was trying to show off her new pink poodle back pack. Zoe didn't want to be in the picture at all. We bribed Reese to get in the picture by getting to sit with Lauren. Kirsten was half way cooperating...just not exactly in a good spot!
Lauren made a hippo with a Texas Tech t-shirt!

Maya seemed pretty sleepy in the car on the way home. She had a great time and we filled up the Tahoe with all her new things!

This is one happy and precious girl. Once we got home and she went potty, she didn't want her pants back on -- so all of the pictures from here on out are sans pants!

She stayed very busy with all her new things. Grandmother and Pops stayed around a little bit to play and help get all of the loot in. I cannot believe my baby girl is 3. Where did the time go? More soon on her new bigger big girl bed!

Mid week visit

Chuck, Jeanne, Erin & Matt stopped by Wednesday night for a quick visit. Maya suprisingly ran up to Matt and let her pick her up. Mason was his usual friendly self. Both M&M enjoy the attention they get from them all!

Matt is Chuck's son-in-law. He and Mason posed for a picture. Maya jumped down once she saw me coming with the camera.

Easter egg hunt

After a quick nap, we headed to Hidy and Gigi's for an Easter egg hunt with cousins.

Paloma tickles Maya as they wait to go on the hunt.
All the egg hunters are ready...

Gigi made Easter baskets for each of her Grandkids. They all had fun and got lots of goodies.

Easter lunch with Grandmother & Pops

We headed to Grandmother & Pops' house after church on Easter Sunday. Not long after we got there the kids had to help fill up the bird feeders. This is something they look forward to doing each time they are there. G&P's backyard is a haven for birds, oh, and squirrels too!

After the kids fed the birds, Grandmother fed all of us an awesome lunch, including plenty of dessert!

I asked Mason to pose for a picture in his cute Easter outfit. My handsome little man.

Maya LOVES to play with these brass animals that sit in the dining room window.

This smile on Maya's face while holding the "noculars" is precious. She so rarely cooperates for pictures, but I caught her with a sweet smile before she realized I had the camera out.

After nap Mason looks to see what he got in his Easter basket. Since the kids had a short nap and I had to wake them up -- Maya was a little grumpy and not interested in her basket.

Old Mother Goose

Brian has had the soundtrack of the Johnny Cash movie "Walk the Line" in his truck for a long time. The kids know a lot of the songs and have several favorites that they request.

One that Maya repeatedly requests is "Old Mother Goose"..... also really known on the album as "Home of the Blues" !! You gotta love it.

Here are the real lyrics. I'd love to know Maya's lyrics word for word.

Hey, just around the corner there's a heartache. On down the road that all losers use.If you can wade in through the teardrops, my friend,I'll meet you at the home of the blues.

I walk and I cry as my heartbeat,Keeps time with the drag of my shoes. The sun never shines through this window of mine:It's dark here at the home of the blues.

But this place is filled with the sweetest memories.Yeah, memories so sweet that I cry.Yeah, dreams that I've had left me feeling so bad,That I just want to lay right down and die. So if you just lost your sweetheart,And you ain't got no good way to choose,Hey come follow me, misery loves company.I'll meet you at the home of the blues.

Oh, this place it's filled with the sweetest memories.Oh, memories so sweet that I cry.Hey, dreams that I've had left me feeling so bad,That I just want to lay right down and die. So if you just lost your sweetheart,And you ain't got no good way to choose,Hey, come follow me, misery loves company.I'll meet you at the home of the blues.
Yeah, I'll see you at the home of the blues.Oh, you're welcome at the home of the blues.

Where ur peeps at?

You know about Peeps, the Easter candy...?? My college roommate, Dina, LOVED Peeps! I'm sure she still does. I think this was her favorite candy, and they are only in stores before Easter.

Anyway, our church has done a few videos, a campaign to get us to invite people to church on Easter. They are pretty funny, creative..

Check them out (click the link below)-- and if you don't have a church to go to on Easter, check out Fellowship Church. The videos are each very short, probably a minute or less each.

Tennis with Hidy

Saturday morning Hidy asked if he could come pick up Mason and take him to his friends house that has a tennis court to hit tennis balls. Of course I knew Mason would LOVE to do that. Mason is very interested in tennis. I'm trying to decide about putting him in tennis lessons, but it is hard since he is playing soccer already.

He got dressed quickly, we got his seat out of my car and I put it by the door. The next thing I knew he was sitting as patiently as he could waiting for Hidy to come pick him up. I grabbed my camera -- he looked so cute & sweet.

As soon as Hidy got to the door, Mason let him in "WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG HIDY?".... It really wasn't long at all, but he was very excited.

I didn't go, but he had a great time until he had a sports injury. I got a call on my cell phone...
He was swinging so hard, but he missed a ball, did a 360 and fell on his elbow on the court, I'm told. His elbow bled a bit but a bandaid helped.
