Cancun

We had a fabulous time on our anniversary trip to Cancun! We were joined by friends, Christy & Tam and Chuck & Jeanne. We spent a lot of time out in the pool under the HOT sun!

We stayed at Riu Cancun - it is HUGE. We recommend it. It was an all inclusive, and the food was actually good! Samuel, who cleaned our room everyday, was a great towel sculpter. Unfortunately on day 1, our camera was ruined and I have no pictures of the swan or the dinosaur he made of towels. They were awesome.

The men: Brian, Chuck, and Tam.

When we got there the first afternoon we were all anxious to get out to the pool / beach. Only a few hours later a storm came thru, but since we were already wet and it wasn't lightning or thundering, we stayed in the pool. We were some of the few who braved the rain. It was fun... until the umbrella that our backpack was hanging on flew into the pool. The camera was in the backpack... it has not worked since then. Unfortunately, I never took ONE SINGLE PICTURE -- so these are all courtesy of Christy & Tam.

Coco the gorilla was really cool to watch. People were paying to have their picture with her, but I just liked to watch her. She liked it when people gave her candy, coke, even a cigarette, which I was mad about. She did NOT like it if anyone touched her chest. Her owner told her to act like Angelina Jolie and she stuck her lips out and made the pink part show -- pretty funny! (AND SMART!)

We loved hanging on the edge of the Infinity pool. We spent most of our time here! This is the 3 ladies: Jeanne, Christy and me.

Brian is already talking about taking another trip for my birthday in February! I'm in. I love the beach!

Flip Flop Shower

We had Jennifer's shower at our house.

Jennifer will be going to Hawaii for her honeymoon, so we decided it might be cute to do a beachy / Hawaiian themed shower. But then we found really cute flip flop invitations and party-ware... and went with a combination of all.

Gigi made the super cute flip flop cake!

The wedding is coming up September 1st.

Girl's Beach Getaway

I've been going to Port Aransas with Wendy almost every year for about the last 20 years!!! Oh my gosh that makes me sound so old-- but it's true. I met Wendy in Junior High. I remember going to Port A with her family in the summer and we had a blast. I remember her Mother, Lynn, saying to us as very young girls, "will y'all come back to Port Aransas and bring your own families?"... and sure enough we do. I don't know why that always stuck in my mind, but it did. Wendy has been nice enough to invite me back many many times since the late 80's!

We have been to Port A in all phases of our lives together from our single college days up to married mommies with family in tow. Each time great memories are made.

This time Wendy invited me on a girl's getaway -- no kids. Just time to relax and have fun. So it was Wendy, Erika, Jill and I -- and I had a fabulous time.

We relaxed by the pool, had girl talk, shopped, danced, went to the beach, did a little make-over work to the condo and just enjoyed our weekend away.

I didn't realize how much I needed this trip -- thank you again girls for a super weekend! Thank you, Wendy, for inviting me!

Ballerina Girl

Maya loves "dance class." I'm really glad Colette encouraged us to take this Mommy and me class. Each week we do 20 minutes ballet, 20 minutes tap, and 20 minutes tumbling.

Mommy's Glasses and 7 years wedded bliss

Brian and I went to the movies for a date -- actually for our 7th anniversary. (7-8-2000) Which, by the way, I really wanted to blog about and put a picture from our wedding day -- but since most or all of the pictures I have from that long ago are not digital, that is not so easy.

Anyway, we decided to go to the Movie Tavern and see a movie and have some dinner. We very rarely go to movies so this was a BIG treat for me! Hidy and Gigi kept the kids and it was bedtime when we picked them up. I had my glasses on still from the movies....Maya insisted on wearing them.

She really looked cute in them, I think.

Happy Anniversary P!

Girlfriends

Colette and I try to get Maya and Reese in the same class at church on Sundays. It has worked out the last month or so.
They give the parents a note to tell you what they learned that day and what they will be teaching the next week. They have been in a series about being a "friend" and making friends.

It was only appropriate then that the girls wanted to hold hands as we left church on Sunday. I was so glad I had my camera in my purse because it was really sweet.

Let Freedom Ring

The weather was making it hard to make any firm plans for getting to see fireworks... but Southlake had their fireworks display on the 3rd and we made a last minute decision to go because the storms had passed for the time being.

I love fireworks! This year Mason didn't appreciate the noise, I guess it goes along with him being scared of Thunder.

I let them each get a toy from a vendor there. Mason picked a lit up spinner toy. I picked out a dolphin on a stick that lit up for Maya. The sparkly things came out of the back of the dolphin. Since we had just been at Sea World a few days before she saw dolphins in action, and I thought she would like it. She immediately named the toy "the dolphin spit out thing." I guess she remembered the hole on the dolphin that they blow air out and sometimes water or "spit" as she saw it. For days after, she referred to the toy as "the dolphin spit out thing!" I love it.
