Maya is 15 months old today

Maya is 15 months old today. I took her for her well visit and she is 33 inches tall (100th percentile), 23 pounds 14 oz (70-75th percentile) and her head is 19 1/2 inches (100th percentile). She is a BIG girl - and she her brain is SO big too!! :)

Maya is quite a character like her brother Mason. They are SO opposite in SO many ways - but they both are very funny, very active, & very opinionated. Maya LOVES to eat. She will try ANYthing new. Occasionally she will spit something out - but she almost always likes it! She loves to dance, read books, jump, run, play ball, wrestle with Mason, and talk. Gigi has commented several times lately that she reminds her of a chicken! I think partly because she often removes her hairdo and is left with crazy hair - but more because of this little dance she does. Gigi thinks chickens do a similar dance. Maya is saying SO much, I couldn't possibly think of all her words to list here. One thing in particular that I think is quite clever is when I will count ...if I stop at 6, she will say "Seben (seven), Eight, Nine, TEN!" I have tested it time and again - she does it! She is tough. Mason tackles her, or she falls down, and she gets right back up and goes on playing.

Her favorite book is a book about Colors. She loves to point out the things she recognizes from her world and say what they are. I have noted that most of the things she likes to talk about are foods!

I love you little Pita! You are my best girl!

I will list a few things you say that are especially cute:
"Good Girl" you say to your self after you take your medicine or sit in your chair nicely, or do something you know that you are supposed to do
"Cute" you say if you put sunglasses, a bracelet, or anything else on...
"Cool" you say about new toys or other things that Mommy might have said "Cool" about before
"Thank you"
"Mason"

Ponytail

I came home from work yesterday to find that Nesha had fixed Maya's hair in a ponytail. It was SOOOO cute. She looked like such a big girl with her hair fixed that way that I almost had to cry.... but instead, I got my camera!

New floors

We have been busy, busy, busy... and that is my excuse for not blogging much the last several weeks. We had all new flooring put in our house (everywhere but the kitchen)....
Efren and Chuy were our awesome installers and Brian and Mason became quite close to Efren especially. He is a great guy - if anyone needs any flooring installed, he does a GREAT job!!
I don't know what Brian and Mason are going to do this week not getting to hang out with Efren. Mason lending a helping hand whenever he could. I caught him in the one of the bedrooms using the knee kicking tool to stretch the carpet. He also assisted Efren and Chuy moving furniture from room to room, carrying carpet in and out of the house, and overlooked as they cut wood pieces. I didn't get a picture of Efren or Chuy - - although Brian suggested that I do so.

I got a picture of the results, though, with Mason modeling the carpet and Maya modeling the wood! (Maya is also modeling the adorable Mexican dress that Hidy and Gigi got her in Cancun, Mexico last week!)

Now if we can just get our house put back together it will look awesome!

Happy Father's Day

Maya loves to read books with Daddy. It made for a perfect Father's Day activity.

Swimming

Maya took her first swim for the year. She did swim last year at just a few months old and loved it. This year she acted a little scared and like she didn't want to go near the water. Sunday evening, though, Gigi got her started just getting her toes wet. Half and hour to maybe and hour later, Maya was in the float just as relaxed as she could be.

Mason, of course, LOVES to swim and there is no toes only with him. He wants all the way in.
He had a great time kicking and splashing around with Lala and Hidy in the pool.

Dallas Mavericks

In honor of the Dallas Mavericks going to the NBA finals, we played a little b-ball yesterday.
Mason was appropriately dressed in his basketball jersey and Maya had an adorable outfit that Grandmother bought for her - - THANK YOU GRANDMOTHER!!

Harris kids in hats

Maya, Lindsay and Mason in cowboy hats at the farmhouse in Ladonia. We were desperately trying to get a picture for Grandmother Fran to use for a Christmas card, but I'm not sure if anyone got a great one.... they sure were cute though!
