Carmen's American Idol Party

Carmen turned 8 years old on the 13th! It doesn't seem like that long ago that Brian and I got married and Angi stood by my side in a bridesmaids' dress turned maternity bridesmaids' dress!

Angi had yet another cute birthday party idea / theme. Carmen enjoys singing Karaoke, so she had an American Idol themed Karaoke party.

Maya really took me by surprise at the party. Although not a bit shy at home, sometimes with others she puts the timid act on. Well not today. I am kicking myself for not having my camera, because if I ever needed a video clip, this was when. (Angi and Hidy both had their real video cameras, so I will have some live action, but maybe not on the blog.) Two of Carmen's school friends got up to sing a song from "High School Musical" and Maya ran up on stage, grabbed a microphone and not only joined in, but sang louder and more of the words than they did! Several people asked, "is that Maya singing," and of course I knew it was. We have watched both "High School Muscial" and "High School Musical 2" many, many times in our house, so the kids know the songs well. Well, that just started things off. Maya got up with various others and sang 4-5 songs. Paloma, Maya, and Zoe sang several songs together including the alphabet and "If you're happy and you know it."

Carmen sang a beautiful solo, "1,000 Miles" by Vanessa Carlton. She was the only one to get up there and really sing a whole song, all the words. I was very impressed.
